A Message from HCEF President Jamie Wombacher
August 28. 2013 marked the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Most Americans are familiar with the speech and its hope for equality for all. Here in Harvard, in 1996 Dr. Richard Crosby also had a dream. His dream was for education opportunities for all students in Harvard. His dream was to start an education foundation that one day would have $1,000,000 in its endowment account, and would be able to enhance the education of Harvard students in big ways. His dream started with a small group of supporters, hardworking parents, grandparents, teachers, and business people. Throughout the past 17 years the group has grown and evolved, but with each new supporter came more passion for Dr. Crosby’s dream, There have been ups and downs in the market that have at times made the dream look unattainable, or if attainable, something what would take decades to achieve.
