Learn About How People Donate to the Harvard Community Education Foundation

The Harvard Community Education Foundation was formed by a group of community leaders and parents to help students and teachers find and seek educational grant opportunities, create fund raising drives and events, provide an opportunity for private and planned estate donations to the Foundation, and provide an orchestrated volunteer effort to provide enhanced financial support to awarded projects and programs for CUSD 50. The Foundation seeks to support programs and projects which help every child have a meaningful and cultured education.

Among its several goals, the foundation board created a goal to achieve an endowment fund of $1,000,000 that would provide funds in perpetuity to help it meet its mission and objectives.  After 20 years of steady fundraising, the Foundation was able to achieve the landmark endowment total of $1,000,000.  This accomplishment is due to the generous donations of private and corporate sponsors, the thousands of families and business owners who attend the Black and Gold Balls, and opened your pocket books to support a wonderful cause.  It was accomplished because a group of people banded together to improve our community.  The mission has been passed down from outgoing directors to new incoming ones, each with a commitment to volunteer their time to continue to support the Foundation’s mission.  The Foundation’s Finance Committee has created a fiscally responsible investment strategy to manage the Foundations Endowment to ensure continued support for the District for Generations to come.

How You Can Help
The Foundation holds an annual Black and Gold Ball which includes an auction. The items to be auctioned are donated by various businesses, organizations, and individuals, and contribute immensely to the overall financial success of the event. You can help by donating goods and/or services to be used in the silent or live auction at the annual ball.
